Carb Blockers

Well, everyone binges once in a while. The intake of Carbs in Junk food during these binges is what causes weight gain. Potato Chips, donuts, cakes and ice cream are rich in carbohydrates and will destroy the carefully maintained diets of the preceding weeks and months! It is a good idea to consider including carb blockers in any combo pilling program you are doing if you want to take care that these occasional binges do not cause harm to your schedule.

Carb blockers inhibit the conversion of carbohydrates into glucose. Phaseolus Vulgaris extracted from kidney beans is one type of carb blocker that is popularly used in Carb blocker pills and combo pilling formulas. This product inhibits the production of alpha-amylase in the pancreas. Alpha-amylase is an enzyme that breaks down starches and converts them into glucose that can be absorbed by the body. However, the efficacy of the product is largely untested and it is not clear whether the action of this product will result in weight loss. There are indications in different studies to show that the ingredient does work in long term use. Currently most brands of carb blockers use Phaseolus Vulgaris as an active ingredient.

Wheat protein extract is another ingredient that is popularly used in carb blockers. The manufacturers claim that the carb blocker will inhibit about 66% of the carbohydrates from getting into the blood stream. Studies conducted in Mayo Clinic indicate that Wheat protein is more effective than white bean as alpha amylase inhibitor. Morover, the study also indicated that the Wheat protein produced gastrointestinal and metabolic side effects that would be useful in the treatment of diabetes and obesity and hence could be a good product to add while doing combo pilling.
